Sybj Erdnuss - Peanuts

What’s the name “Sybj Erdnuss” all about? Why does my blog have this name?

Firstly, I love peanuts (German: Erdnuss). Secondly, in any form: roasted for aperitifs, wrapped in shells at Christmas, coated in sugar, in sweets like Snickers & M&M’s, chopped in Asian dishes or in the form of peanut butter on bread and in cereal. And so I was delighted, when friends invited me to their home for crepes and peanut butter was for selection. I happily grabbed the jar and smeared a large portion on my crepes. My friends smiled and asked me with a wink, if I liked peanut butter. Ha ha, where did they come up with that! Not only did they notice the peanut butter hill on my plate, but they also noticed my sparkling eyes from the sight of this delicacy. Somewhat embarrassed, I replied that I love peanuts in all varieties, including the butter. Then I heard my friend say “Sybj Erdnuss”. Erdnuss is the German word for peanut. That’s how the name was born.

But it didn’t immediately occur to me to use it for my blog. I studied around on other naming ideas for a while. But no name seemed to fit, I was missing a personal reference and that certain something. Until my friend called me “Sybj Erdnuss” again at a later time. It’s highly probable that I ate something with peanuts again. And then it came clear to me: this is the perfect name for my site. The name connects a personal story with a preference of mine. And “Erdnuss”, literally a nut of the earth, fits quite well to a travel lover like me. Don’t you think?
